Prospective Intern:

Court Options is a private organization committed to the provision of a comprehensive array of quality court related services. We strive to meet the needs of our community by creating new opportunities for citizens, while assisting our courts with relevant and meaningful services to help increase public safety.

As you know, Court Options has been offering an internship program to criminal justice students.  As a result of the tremendous amount of growth Court Options has experienced in the last quarter, we are looking at placing more full-time and part-time interns for the upcoming semester.
We are offering students several areas of concentration during the internship program. Outlined below are the opportunities we are offering for the upcoming semester.
Court representatives- Court Options will send court representatives to all county arraignment, trial and report calendars. The intern will have the opportunity to experience county court on a daily basis. Responsibilities will include completing intakes for individuals referred to the program by the state attorneys office, and explaining our program to each defendant. Additionally, the intern will work in conjunction with the assistant state attorney as well as the judge concerning questions about the program.
Correctional Counseling Groups- Court Options offers psycho-educational groups to defendants referred to the program. The program offers: Drug Education, Shoplifting, Anger Management, Parenting, Criminal Thinking, Florida Fish and Wildlife, DWLS, and Values Clarification groups. The intern will be trained on how to utilize the curriculum and co-facilitate groups.
Case Management - We will assist the intern by guiding them through the general principles of case management and supervision strategies for individuals referred to the program.
Social Service-The intern will have the opportunity to work directly with clients on social service needs such as: employment, housing, referrals to substance abuse counseling, transportation, legal services and child care needs.
Alcohol Monitoring Program (SCRAM)- The intern will have the opportunity to be trained on how to utilize the SCRAM system. The intern will learn how to install a bracelet, monitor the progress and develop progress reports for the courts.
Record Expunction Workshop- The intern will observe and participate in a record expunction workshop. This will allow them to gain experience on how to expunge a criminal record.
